MARTHA . . . A DREAM INTO POETRY

Spring, summer, winter and fall,
these are the seasons prepared for us all.
But when you pass through life’s short span of time,
seasons just come in one lengthy, straight line.

There is but one spring and only one summer,
then only one fall, with the last being winter.
For us life is lengthy, in our own mind’s time line,
but our life, generally put simply, is one frame of time.

As my life began feeling the boundaries of age,
my mind began slowing its pace day by day.
My health was deceiving, and I looked rather great,
but my mind kept on saying . . . it’s getting late.

I lay down one evening, so tired was I,
the night was so beautiful, and I closed my eyes.
I dreamt and I tossed amongst deep shades of blue,
I wasn’t too sure what my dream was to do.

I could not determine if I were dead or alive,
a touch of soft movement was taking me high.
I floated so freely and was bathed in soft flight,
‘twas like wings of a feather where holding me tight.

My flight path was upward and through the sky’s lights,
their gleaming and twinkling was an unseeming sight.
It was like they were singing a welcome home song,
while they continually blinked off and on, off and on.

My pathway continued in swift upward array,
such softness surrounded me and kept me at bay.
When all of a sudden, this gate should I see,
just standing there open and waiting for me,

We flew through its openness and oh, what a sight,
a place of such beauty, all brilliantly white.
My mind kept on saying, many angels are here,
they’re bringing you home to your Lord to be near.

We flew o’er the opulence and brilliant white light;
never had I witnessed such a beautiful sight.
The angels took over and swiftly we flew,
to the great throne of God, with such a radiant hue.

I was with the Great Master, my tongue could not move,
I just wanted to sing all his praises anew.
A voice started speaking, in a mysterious way;
it held such stark beauty in all it had to say.

This voice was so soft, yet commanding in tone,
the love that came forth just sent chills through my bones.
The message was so loving, but simple and mild,
when he turned and said to me “Welcome my Child”.

ARTISTRY

I look out my window and what my eyes see
Is the perfect artist’s drawing seen above my trees.

The sunrise, when early, has colors on fire
Pinks, blues and yellows . . . all there to admire.

I view tinted skies with various shades of blue,
There are even whites of various bright hues.

The sun glistens sharply around every tree,
Its brightness is a certain reminder of Thee.

I see the boughs swaying from an unspoken breeze
As His feet are tiptoeing right through the trees.

The sunset is no different in its beautiful array,
Its colors are the blending of a beautiful day.

The sun slowly sinks to the end of the sky,
And can no longer be seen with the naked eye.

We know not what tapestry the skies will enfold
As our Lord blends all colors, the soft with the bold.

They entwine with each other day in and day out,
The world is His canvas without any doubt.

TO A YOUNG LADY NAMED ZOE

Zoe, little child so torn,
Whom I’ve watched since you were born.
You were a child of such delight,
Your parents felt you were their light.

Through the years, you’ve grown so fine,
Remember though, you’re a child of mine.
I’m well aware of your sad, sad plight,
I’m here for you all through the night.

While your life seems heavy now,
You wipe the sweat from off your brow,
Your aches and pains come endlessly,
But this is when you talk to me.

I am so pained for you today,
Seeing you in this abnormal way,
Life is uncertain that’s for sure,
But for you my dear, there‘s hope for cure.

However, my child, I come to say,
Be so strong through each long day.
Follow through with those who care,
Life again should soon be fair.

When you feel the hurt so bad,
Talk to me, don’t be so sad.
I am here right by your side,
I will help the pain to hide.

Pain is searing, bold and wild,
Nothing with pain can be classified mild.
But sometimes through this we all must go,
Where it takes us no one knows.

Fear not about you future dear,
Whatever it holds, I will be near.
Take your life in glorious stride,
I will, always, with you abide.

We do not know at this point in time,
Just what your life will come to bind,
But whatever happens to come your way,
Always remember I’m here to stay.

Life is not prefect from day to day,
But I will help you walk the way.
We all do suffer along life’s path,
But don’t let this turn your mind to wrath.

Again be strong in your fight for life,
Talk with me daily and throughout the night.
I will help take your burdens away,
To see you to another day.

Remember my child, I died for you,
I know what pain you’re going through.
Just read my book when you find your way,
And I will be waiting for you some day.

WHAT IS BEAUTY?

This six-letter word stirs numerous thoughts in a mind,
Everywhere to be seen, sometimes coarse, sometimes fine.
Connotations so different as we labor to describe
In nature, in love, or simply with life’s stride.

We ask ourselves, what is beauty, and we try to declare,
But there are numerous variables, each with their own flare.
This little word, interchangeable as it may be,
Can leave a lasting impression upon all of us you see.

They say “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”,
And this is so true as we define this when older.
We all think of beauty in our own personal view,
Nothing under the sun could possibly be new.

Beauty is a newborn child, who arrives naked at birth,
But as parents, there is nothing more beautiful on earth.
Beauty is the first smile on this young baby’s face,
The glow of happiness as a child full of grace.

Beauty is to the grandmother with a babe in her arms,
Her first male grandchild, so full of charm.
Tears of love define this moment of joy,
Especially for granddad . . . this is “his” boy!

Beauty to the gardener is a totally different view,
His mind sees the beauty in flowers of different hues.
He has laboriously nurtured his plant to this stage,
Where beauty and color so vividly rage.

Beauty is designed from the Master above,
Given to view with his infinite love.
Niagra falls with its waters that soar,
The pyramids as well, architecture galore.
The whited plains of food for us all,
The wheat and the corn stalks standng so tall.
The flowers that grow pretty on the side of the road,
Taking our mind off a heavy day's load.
The sun and its rays so raidiant to view,
The while puffy clouds ever changing on cue.
The cooling rains bless in so many ways,
The gentle breeze making tree limbs sway.
The seasons that come to us year after year,
Giving us changes we hold to so dear.
The snow that covers the ground with such white.
It looks much like daylight even at night.
The white sandy beaches that surround our great land,
With white caped waves washing high upon sand.
The gallons of water that nourish so well,
The seeds we plant for food we can sell.
The wind the blows, sometimes more than we care,
Spreads pollen around for us just everywhere.
Fragrance that comes naturally to us in the air,
From fruit trees and flower's blooms here and there.
The oceans and rivers as they meander along,
Their soft little motions produce silent songs.
Beautiful water falls, cascading so clear.
Yes God's beauty is seen all so near.

Beauty is life, in its vast array,
Breathing our life from day to day.
Beauty is seeing, all nature in view,
So much around us, the old with the new.

Beauty is hearing the incessant sounds of life,
We take this for granted, but some listen with strife.
Beauty is walking without great bodily pain,
When exercising for health, over and over again.

Beauty is seeing the world through our eyes,
This encompasses all, from the earth to the skies.
Beauty is flowers gently swaying in the breeze,
With luxurious green grass, no more healthy weeds.

Beauty to a child is a large ice cream cone,
Something a treat he won’t get at home.
Beauty can be the love of a pet,
Such fun and playfulness from them do we get.

Beauty is seen in a sister’s delight,
When one helps the other in a dangerous plight.
Sisters are special, their bond is so strong,
Nothing between them ever rarely goes wrong.

Beauty is watching your bride walk down the aisle,
Awesomely dressed with an unsurpassed smile.
Glowing so radiantly on this day of life,
You lovingly wait to make her your wife.

Beauty is watching a child slowly mature,
Life is a hard lesson for those who endure.
There’s great pride however, in knowing you’ve excelled.
When your child now mature, has learned his role well.

Beauty is to be seen in the winter of one’s life,
For we know soon there will be no pain and no strife.
We live, we love, we cry and we pray,
That heavenward bound will soon be our way.

Beauty as we know it, on this side of life,
A beautiful family with children and wife,
A love that has grown to mountainous peaks,
But now a love with Him we do seek.

Beauty as defined by our infinite mind,
Has no set rule, nothing that binds.
We see things differently, day in and day out,
But beauty is around us, of that there’s no doubt.

Learn to see beauty as it slides into view,
See the grandeur that shows life anew.
Look for this even when all seems askew,
Bolstering your mind with a new attitude.

Beauty in rare form is seen through our tears,
When a child gives his life to the peer of all peers,
A dedicated soul to the Master this one,
A goal set for heaven when his life is done.

So from now on, when you hear someone say,
That is so beautiful, or what a beautiful day,
Remember that saying is interpreted their way,
But every day alive is be a beautiful day.

TWO ROADS

[Matthew 7:13-14: Enter by the narrow gate (way); for wide is the gate and
broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who
go in by it.  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way
which leads to life, and there are few who find it.]

There are two roads of life we trod,
Throughout our stream of time,
If we choose one, we’ll live with God,
But if another, we’ll hear Satan’s chimes.

One road is wide and laden with rocks,
Each rock to blacken your soul,
You walk over, on top, around them, or stop,
With rare thought to what’s really your goal.

The Wide Road
Should you continue your life as before,
One wild with lascivious sin,
Or should you take stock of where you have soared,
Your soul is dead and blackened within.

Are you so tainted with the glitter of sin,
That within, you don’t want to be free?
If so, Satan has been your closest friend,
And with him you’ll spend your eternity.

That’s not true if you can see your way clear,
To free up your lifetime of sin,
You feel Jesus is waiting . . . standing so near,
To take all of your burdens with Him.

This road, if continued, will cause you such pain,
When to the end of life’s pathway you’ve roamed,
For you will be judged with so much disdain,
Banished forever from God’s home.

Just how horrible will you feel then,
When the Almighty casts you aside,
Because you chose life, one full of sin,
And now with evil you’ll reside.

The darkness and fire will always be there,
Along with the filth of mankind,
You chose this way ‘cause you didn’t care,
And now you are paying the fine.

Your life will no longer be all fun and games,
Your home now forever a horror,
Satan dealt you a blow of his “fame”,
You’ll never see another tomorrow.

Satan cares not . . . he just enticed you to sin,
All he wanted was you to be his,
He laughs and sneers as your soul was his “win”,
As this was his utmost life’s “biz”.

The Narrow Road
But you could have chosen another way,
A road that was narrow indeed,
There are a few people this road still persuades
To follow . . . for they realize their need.

They knew the narrow road was the way to life,
This road was not riven with sin,
It too had stumbling blocks of all heights,
But they managed these differently . . . from within.

They took care to guide all of their thoughts,
And not let these blocks send them astray,
They studied the Word and their mind was not soft,
So in God’s graces they stayed.

They had their joys and days of fun,
But with this, sin did not abound,
They all still had their fun in the sun,
And their life did not run them aground.

Now as they approach the end of this road,
They have well stayed life’s treacherous path,
They remained true to God and stayed in His mode,
They won’t be privy to all of His wrath.

They have avoided a lifetime of sin,
That could have caused them to stray,
But they lived life . . . God always within,
And chose to follow His way.

They earned their beautiful crown of life,
But not through a lifetime of sin,
Was it worth it for them to do what was right?
It was . . . now they see their great win.

So as you can see, there are two roads of life,
The wide and the narrow are they,
Which one will you choose to walk ‘til you die,
On which road will you stand on that day.

The choice is all yours as you have a free will,
And no one can make you do wrong,
Which road will you walk, up and over life’s hills,
To spend life with God and His heavenly throng,
Or spend your eternity with all Satan’s ills!

A MUCH NEEDED RAINY DAY

The wind is blowing, the sky is gray,
Today is certainly a yucky day.
The breeze is quickly moving the branches,
While leaves appear to be doing their dances.

I’m glad I’m not outside today,
As you can barely see the sunshine’s rays.
The ominous clouds loom high up above,
He’s sending His rain with all of His love.

Forest fires have destroyed the beautiful lush green,
And all we have left is what’s there to be seen.
We've needed this rain so bad for so long,
It sounds on the roof like a pitter-patter song.

It stops and it starts, and it drizzles with time,
But we’ll take this rain, in any amount we find.
We could use a slow drizzle for four days at least,
But when in Florida, it's just the nature of the beast.

We are so thankful for this thirsty, slow drink,
But the ground is so parched, the water won’t sink.
We’ll let the rain come, day in and day out,
For we'll take what we get, God’s will we won’t tout.

We thank you dear Lord, for all of Your blessings,
And we need to review again history’s lessons.
We need to rethink thoroughly our wasteful ways,
To eliminate constant worries of water today.

We need to remember You will give to us all,
If we simply heed  Your word and Your call.
